Simple Paper Wall Decor

It's great to learn new things and do it ourselves especially when they turn out really beautiful! Today I am making a wall decor from paper. It can be made using old newspaper or any unused paper as well. Hence, we can safely call it best out of waste.

Things needed:

1. Some news paper or used A4 sheets

2. Some paper flowers or artificial flowers

3. Flower making wire

4. A pair of scissors

5. Glue

6. Craft Paper/Handmade Paper for background

7. Sketch pens / Water colour pens

So gather all this and, sit down comfortably and let's begin! :D

Cut out strips from the A4 sheets and roll them from one end to make pipes.

How to make Paper sticks.

Let's colour those paper sticks.

Take the background paper and stick it on a piece of cardboard. Glue these paper sticks on the sides as the border.

Cut off the edges of the paper sticks to give an even look.

Take some more paper sticks and insert the flower making wire and then bend it in shape as shown in the pic. Measure and cut off the extra part. Stick it on the background like this -

Now take some paper flowers and arrange them on the stems.

Easy paper flowers ideas.

Cut out some leaves from the green craft paper and stick them too.

You can add a thread at the back for hanging or decorate on a wall shelf.

And the 3D wall decor is ready!

Thanks for visiting.

Aakash Deep - Deepawali lamp (paper)

One more traditional Diwali decoration - Paper lamps or Aakash deep when lit up with a bulb.

To make this simple yet beautiful paper lamp, we need just a few things.

Things required :-

1. Craft paper (varied colours)
2. A pair of scissors
3. Glue
4. Craft thread
6. Sellotape/ sticking tape
Let's start by taking a square sheet approx 5" by 5" (inches).
Fold the sheet diagonally to form a triangle.

Fold it into a triangle again.
Now we've got four folds. From the open end cut straight lines through to the other end, leaving only a little space at the edge.
Open all the folds carefully and spread out the paper.
Fold the innermost (smallest) cut inwards and paste the tips together, like this -
Fold and paste together alternate strips. For example, leave the next strip and glue together the third one.
Repeat until all the alternate strips are joined to give a lovely shape.
We need 5 such pieces

Take two pieces and join the tips of the largest strip. It's like joining two diamond shapes.
Glue together the rest of the three pieces to form a single layer.
Cut out 2 one inch paper strips about 10 inches in length.
Now glue the upper and lower end of the daimonds on these strips, like this,
After that, I have taken two similar strips of a different colour and half an inch in width.
Stick this on the broader strip.
To give it the shape of a lantern, paste together the ends of the top and bottom strips as in a ring.
Also don't forget to paste the edge of the two diamonds when they meet on folding the two upper and lower strips.
And the last bit is to attach the string for hanging. Cut out approx 10 inches of craft thread and secure it on the inner side of one of the rings with a sellotape/adhesive tape.

On the bottom strip, we will glue some zig-zag strips to complete the look.

Admire the creation.

Floral Wall Hanging - Festive Decor

It's festival time all over India and the streets and shops are abuzz with bright colours and varied decor. But we need to watch our pockets as well as decorate our abodes with much ardour! You can try out this pocket friendly decor idea this season.

Things needed to make this wall hanging are :-

1. Some brightly coloured broad net ribbons
2. Craft thread
3. Buckram (hardened fabric used as base)
4. Fabric glue
5. Sequins
6. Neddle and thread
7. A pair of scissors
8. A ruler (optional -  for measurement)
And we are ready to go :)

We need to cut two ribbon strips to make the flower. I have taken white ribbon for the base petal. So cut the white one approx 14" in length. Cut 10" long strip of the red ribbon for the inner petal.
Now fold the red strip less than half in width. Take the needle and thread and bind using the simple running stitch as shown - Make sure you have put a knot on one end to prevent the thread from coming out all the way!
Now pull the thread gently to curl the ribbon and form the flower
Don't cut the thread yet. Take the white ribbon strip and simply make a running stitch one one of the edges. and pull the thread gently to for the outer petal, like this
Bind the flower securely with a few more stitches on the reverse side
Now we will take the buckram strip and cut a one inch piece and cut it in half. We will use this to paste the flower on the craft thread
Use the craft glue to paste one piece on the reverse side of the flower.
And then put the craft thread on top of it, and paste the second half of the buckram piece to secure it in place. Leave it to dry.
Make and add some more flowers. Paste some sequins to enhance the look.

Let this beautiful piece adorn your wall and enjoy the blissful festive moment! :)

May Lord Ganesha bestow happiness, peace and fullfilment in your life!
