Finger Puppet - Origami

Here's another fun way of spending time with your kids. A simple finger puppet, easy to make and amusing to play with. It can also be used as a story-telling prop.

Things we need -
1. Colourful craft paper
2. Glue
3. A pair of scissors
4. Some sketch pens
Take a square piece of paper 4" x 4" or 10cm x 10cm.
Fold it diagonally.
I have marked the lines for the other folds.
Fold the upper corner to make the head.
Now fold the left and right corners upwards along the lines to make the ears.

Turn it around. You can see the outline of a cat's face.
So, let's make some eyes and mouth using the black sketch pen or water colour pen.
Cut the eyes and paste them on the puppet's face like this,
Let's take a plain sheet of paper, 1" in width and 4" in length.
Roll it and secure with glue. Make sure that the roll fits the finger.

Apply some glue on the paper roll and paste it at the back of the puppet.

And there you go! Happy playtime!!

Hope you loved this one!

Mini Paper Bag - Origami

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers
Here's another interesting way of giving away candies without the bother of packing and even distribution! Small items like an eraser or a sharpner or temporary tattoos etc can be put in this mini paper bag and presented. It's hassle free to create and requires minimal items.

Requirements :

1. Craft paper - Square
2. A pair of scissors
3. Glue (optional)
4. Some stickers (optional)
We need a square paper. If you have printed gift wrapping paper, cut a square piece - 5 inches x 5 inches
Fold it diagonally to form a triangle.
Keep the open end of the triangle upwards and fold the paper as shown in the pic.
Fold the other side as well.
This looks like a pentagon! Let's fold it in the center like this,
To make the handles, cut the slanting edge from the folded side, leaving a margin of about 1cm, towards the open ends. Don't cut through and through, leave some gap. Refer the pic below.
Open the center fold. Below the cut, fold the open ends of the paper on either sides. Insert one edge in the pocket.
Fold the second open edge on the other side.
Add some stickers or embellishments if you wish.
And the cute little paper bag is ready!

Simple Paper Boat

A paper boat is symbolic to everyone's childhood memories. The first paper craft that anyone learnt, was to make this simple play object. Come monsoons, and the newspapers were converted into these tiny and huge boats. There were competitions and experiments with the sizes. Whose boat sails longer and whose sinks?

Let's learn to make this simple joyful origami object.

For this we need
1. Craft paper

Thing to note is that the paper should be a rectangle and not a square.
Fold it in the middle.
Mark the centre and fold from both sides, like this
The open end should be at the bottom. Now fold one layer of the open end towards this triangle.
Flip over and fold the second layer similarly.
We should close the edges to make a finished triangle by folding the open ends inside in alignment with the sides of the triangle.

Puff the cone and flatten it on the alternate sides.
Fold the open edge upwards - front and back both.

Puff the cone from inside once more and flatten it on the alternate sides.
Pull the open edges getnly to give it a boat shape.
 Enjoy!

Colourful Paper Fish (Origami)

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers
Drawing and colouring a fish is one of the first things that a child learns. Let's try and make it a bit more interesting by making a simple paper fish. This origami piece requires the following things -

1. Craft paper
2. Water colour pens
3. Glue
4. Outliners (Optional)

Take a craft paper of your choice. It needs to be a square piece.
Fold it in half.
Make a crease and open it. Now fold it diagonally to form a triangle.
Make a crease and open the fold. Do it again with the remaining two sides. So that when you open the folds, the creases should form an "X" and your paper should look like this with all the creases -
Now push the vertical fold in and press the edges to form a triangle.
So let's make the tail fin. For that, fold the upper tip of the paper from the centre point but a little away from the center line.
Stick this fold to hold it in place. And then fold the other side on top of it and stick it. Make sure both the folds overlap each other snugly for a neat look.
Turn over and you can see the basic shape.
Make the eyes, mouth and the fins using the water colour pens. You can use glitter pens as well.
Add some colourful designs to complete the look. I have used some outliner colours to give it a funky look.
